Die Popularität des "Lifestyle-Konzepts" beruht auf dem aktuellen gesellschaftlichen Wandel von der Bürgergesellschaft hin zur Konsumentengesellschaft. Auf der lokalen Ebene beginnt "Lifestyle" die traditionelle "Lebensart" zu ersetzen. Die Medien und die Kultur- und Freizeitindustrie haben ein legitimes Interesse daran, den Übergang zum Lifestyle-Konzept zu beschleunigen - das zeigt die wachsende Popularität von Lifestyle-Programmen zur Hauptsendezeit des britischen Fernsehens. Seit Mitte der neunziger Jahre des 20. Jahrhunderts haben sich die Medienangebote, die den Garten unter Lifestyle-Aspekten betrachten, vervielfacht, gleichzeitig wuchsen die Ausgaben der Konsumenten für Gartenartikel an. Der Beitrag analysiert die Strategien, derer sich die Programme, die den Garten als Teil des Lifestyles betrachten, bedienen. Ziel ist es, den ganz normalen Gartenliebhaber dazu zu bewegen, in Lifestyle-Projekte zu investieren. Die Zuschauer bemerken eine Hinwendung zu ganz alltäglichen Themen und die Gartenexperten fungieren als "Persönlichkeitsdolmetscher", die die Vorstellungen von Lifestyle aus dem symbolischen Repertoire, das die Konsumentenkultur anbietet, übersetzen. AbstractFrom its foundation in 1930 until the late 1980s, the Alianza Popular Revolucionaria Americana (APRA) comprised the largest and best organised political party in Peru, but surprisingly few studies exist on how the organisation was established and built up a mass following at the provincial level. This article examines the birth of APRA in the Andean department of Cajamarca. It highlights the support the organisation obtained among key middle–class groups (i.e. lawyers, schoolteachers, cattle dealers, etc.), and the links they forged with the rural and urban poor. APRA's efforts to mobilise "new" social actors, such as women and students, are also described.
